PRINT / COMPARE / TROUBLESHOOT
Print a test page on your device
Engineering preview: usable draft patterns, not a physically validated release. See validation limits.
A system test page exercises its installed queue/driver. A printer’s built-in report exercises the model’s own check. A Graph Paper Printable PDF is controlled comparison artwork sent through your app and driver. Compare the paths; none of them alone identifies a failed component.
Windows 11 / Windows 10
Use an installed printer. The two Windows settings paths differ.
System test page or Graph Paper Printable PDF? The Windows test page checks the Windows printer queue and driver path. It is different from a printer control-panel nozzle or quality report.
- Load plain paper and confirm that the intended printer is turned on and installed.
- Windows 11: open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners, choose your printer, then Printer properties. Windows 10: open Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners, choose the printer, then Manage > Printer properties.
- On the General tab choose Print Test Page. If it cannot print, check the queue/connection with Microsoft or model support before treating this as an ink problem.
- For the Graph Paper Printable comparison, open the native Letter or A4 PDF matching the loaded paper in a PDF viewer.
- Choose the same printer and paper. Set Actual size / 100%, one page per sheet and the needed page range; disable Fit, borderless enlargement and browser headers/footers where available.
- Request printing and inspect the paper. Compare with the Windows page and the model’s built-in quality report; closing a dialog does not confirm printing.

macOS
Apple’s document printing workflow; utility availability depends on model and driver.
System test page or Graph Paper Printable PDF? Apple’s document workflow does not supply one universal nozzle-test button. A model utility or printer control panel may offer an official test; follow that manual.
- Confirm the printer is available in System Settings > Printers & Scanners and load matching plain paper.
- For an official self-check, use the model’s control panel or installed manufacturer utility if available. A macOS print queue alone is not a nozzle check.
- Open the Graph Paper Printable Letter or A4 PDF in Preview.
- Choose File > Print (Command-P), then select your physical printer and required pages.
- Match the paper size. Choose Scale and enter 100% rather than Scale to Fit; use one page per sheet and inspect the preview for cropping.
- Print, check the queue if necessary and inspect the physical result. Compare it with the model’s official test.

ChromeOS / Chromebook
Use a compatible network or USB printer; ChromeOS does not support Bluetooth printing in the linked Google instructions.
System test page or Graph Paper Printable PDF? Google’s setup guide describes printing documents, rather than a universal hardware nozzle report. Run the printer’s own self-check from its manual.
- Connect a compatible printer by USB or connect Chromebook and printer to the same network.
- If a hardware quality check is needed, run the printer’s control-panel self-check described in its manual.
- Open the Graph Paper Printable PDF matching the loaded Letter or A4 paper and press Ctrl-P.
- Under Destination choose See more and your printer. If it is missing, use Google’s printer setup guide; Save as PDF is not the physical printer.
- Match the paper, page range and one page per sheet. Use 100% / Actual size if this PDF viewer exposes it, disable Fit and inspect the preview; otherwise use a desktop viewer for size-critical tools.
- Choose Print and compare the paper result with the built-in test. A successful queue request is not a hardware diagnosis.

iPhone / iPad (iOS / iPadOS)
AirPrint-compatible printer and an app that exposes Print.
System test page or Graph Paper Printable PDF? AirPrint sends a document to a printer. It does not replace a model’s nozzle check or print-quality report.
- Confirm AirPrint support and connect the device and printer to the same Wi-Fi network. Load the paper you will use.
- For the hardware self-check, follow the model’s control-panel manual. There is no universal AirPrint nozzle-test command in this workflow.
- Open the Graph Paper Printable PDF for the matching paper in an app that supports printing.
- Use Share or Actions, then Print. If Print is missing, consult the app’s help or open the PDF in another printing-capable app.
- Choose the AirPrint printer, required pages and copies. Inspect available paper options; if exact scale is unavailable, print ruler/size-check PDFs with a desktop viewer that exposes 100%.
- Tap Print and inspect the physical page. Do not treat the mobile preview or dialog closing as successful paper output.

Android
Google Pixel instructions; some settings require Android 14+. Other manufacturers and PDF apps use different labels.
System test page or Graph Paper Printable PDF? Android print services route app documents. For a hardware quality report use the printer’s own model-specific procedure.
- Connect a compatible printer and load paper. On Pixel open Settings > Connected devices > Connection preferences > Printing, then enable the appropriate print service.
- If needed, run the printer’s official self-check from its control panel or manufacturer instructions.
- Open the Graph Paper Printable Letter or A4 PDF in an app with printing support; app menus vary.
- Find Print in the app’s Menu / Share options and select the physical printer through the enabled service.
- Choose matching paper, pages and copies. Inspect the preview; move size-critical PDFs to a desktop viewer if the app cannot explicitly select 100% / Actual size.
- Send the print request, then inspect the physical output and compare it with the official report.

Linux / CUPS
A working local CUPS queue and enabled web interface; desktop distribution and permissions vary.
System test page or Graph Paper Printable PDF? A CUPS test page checks that queue’s processing path. It differs from the printer’s control-panel test and Graph Paper Printable’s comparison artwork.
- Confirm that CUPS and the target queue are already configured, then load plain paper. This guide does not change system administration settings.
- Open your local CUPS interface at localhost:631 if enabled, choose Printers and your configured queue.
- From the queue’s Maintenance menu choose Print Test Page; use your local distribution’s documentation if permissions or the menu differ.
- For the Graph Paper Printable comparison, open the matching Letter or A4 PDF in your desktop PDF viewer.
- Choose the same queue, native paper size, one page per sheet and 100% / Actual size. Disable automatic fitting and inspect the preview.
- Print and inspect the paper. If only the app document fails, compare its settings and the queue; use the model’s built-in quality report for hardware checks.

A mobile print dialog may hide paper scaling. For a ruler or size-critical test, use a viewer with an explicit Actual size / 100% option and verify the printed calibration squares.
Content is a draft assembled from official sources. Human editorial review and matching-device operation remain pending.
Before you print again
Does requesting a print mean it printed?
No. The browser can request a dialog, but cannot tell whether you cancelled, sent the job or received paper. Check the preview and the physical result.
Why are there two paper sizes?
Each PDF has a native Letter or A4 page box. Choose the same size in the printer dialog, use Actual size / 100%, and disable headers, footers and Fit to page.
Can this sheet diagnose my printer?
It is a comparison aid. A generic sheet cannot identify a failed part, measure ink remaining, certify colors or replace the manufacturer's model-specific checks.
