Canon printer checks

PIXMA TS3500 cartridge and G3010 tank series examples. Other PIXMA, MAXIFY and laser models can use different procedures.

1. Official self-check and cleaning

TS3500: turn the printer on, load Letter/A4 plain paper in the rear tray and extend the output tray. Press Setup until 1 appears, then Black or Color. Wait until the nozzle pattern finishes and compare it with the manual.

G3010: load plain Letter/A4 in the rear tray, extend the output tray, press Setup so 1 appears, then Black or Color. Check the printed nozzle pattern.

G3010 normal cleaning: Setup, then + until 2, then Black or Color. Wait for completion and print the nozzle pattern again. This sequence is for G3010; use the TS3500 manual’s cleaning section for TS3500.

2. Print symptoms and their limits

The G3010 maintenance guide separates missing/uneven output from misaligned ruled lines. Check its nozzle pattern and ink levels before cleaning; use official alignment guidance for line-position problems.

Canon-filtered Reddit records and symptom counts are unavailable. This is a manual-based checklist, not a verified ranking of common Canon failures.

3. A useful Graph Paper Printable test combination

Use the official pattern first, then Graph Paper Printable’s smaller color sheet for visual differences and the alignment grid for line-position comparison. Use the single-color page only when the affected color is known.

The grid is a comparison aid, not Canon’s alignment calibration procedure. Do not enter grid numbers into the printer’s alignment utility.

4. Tank and cartridge maintenance

G3010: visually inspect tank levels. Refill according to the manual near the lower line; continuing below it can damage the printer. Its notification function and refill process must be read together.

The G3010 manual says not to rinse or wipe the head. Stronger maintenance uses substantial ink and has level prerequisites; do not substitute repeated solid-color prints for the official procedure.

For TS3500 cartridges, use the TS3500 replacement and maintenance sections rather than tank refill guidance. No universal maintenance interval has been approved.

5. Official support for your model

Search the official Canon manual portal for the exact model. Use its regional service/contact link for a persistent error or a quality problem that the permitted maintenance does not resolve.

A PIXMA inkjet menu should not be applied to a Canon laser device; choose its toner/manual instructions.

Before you print again

Does requesting a print mean it printed?

No. The browser can request a dialog, but cannot tell whether you cancelled, sent the job or received paper. Check the preview and the physical result.

Why are there two paper sizes?

Each PDF has a native Letter or A4 page box. Choose the same size in the printer dialog, use Actual size / 100%, and disable headers, footers and Fit to page.

Can this sheet diagnose my printer?

It is a comparison aid. A generic sheet cannot identify a failed part, measure ink remaining, certify colors or replace the manufacturer's model-specific checks.
