For this tank family, Maintenance > Head Cleaning starts the official cleaning routine. Inspect the follow-up pattern and follow the exact manual’s limits and waiting guidance. Do not turn off or open the scanner during cleaning.

XP-4200 / XP-4205: use Maintenance > Print Head Nozzle Check > Print. If the official result warrants cleaning, use Maintenance > Print Head Cleaning > Start and follow the manual. Empty/low cartridges can prevent cleaning.

2. Print symptoms and their limits

A banded or faint nozzle pattern calls for comparison with the matching Epson manual. A normal built-in check with a failed app document points toward a different queue/settings path; it does not prove that every hardware function is healthy.

3. A useful Graph Paper Printable test combination

A driver can mix physical inks. Graph Paper Printable cannot test each individual Epson nozzle or replace the official pattern.

4. Tank and cartridge maintenance

ET-2840 / L3560 tank example: the low-ink alert estimates use rather than directly measuring liquid. Inspect the windows and follow the manual’s lower/upper line, matching-bottle and refill instructions; do not infer a refill procedure for a different EcoTank.

XP-4200 / XP-4205 cartridge example: check the nozzle result before cleaning. Cleaning uses ink, and empty-cartridge status can block the utility. Follow the matching manual for replacement and shutdown.

No universal weekly interval or anti-clog guarantee has been reviewed. Use the exact model’s storage instructions before long periods away.
